World Refugee Day
Today there are more than 51 million displaced people fleeing the world’s worst humanitarian crises. In honor of World Refugee Day, become an agent of light and give families in crisis the safety and security of a WakaWaka solar light.
Close your eyes. Imagine what it would be like to live in pitch black, night after night.
Between June 15 - 20, for every photo of eyes closed and tagged #LightFor51, WakaWaka will donate a solar light to the International Rescue Committee.
Light is crucial to safety and security among displaced communities, especially women and children, who are most vulnerable in the dark. “By asking our Agents of Light to close their eyes and imagine what it would be like to live in pitch black, night after night, our hope is that many eyes will actually be opened to the millions of refugees and displaced persons who have been forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict and persecution.” said Maurits Groen, Founder and CEO of WakaWaka. “There has never been an easier way to help light the way to safety for displaced daughters and sons, mothers and fathers.”
How to share the sun with families in crisis:
- Take a photo with your eyes closed.
- Tag your photo with #LightFor51.
- Share your photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
- WakaWaka will donate a solar light to the International Rescue Committee.
We are asking the WakaWaka community to close their eyes in unity, with empathy and compassion. We hope you will join us in honoring the millions of displaced daughters and sons, mothers and fathers. By closing your eyes and posting a photo, you will inspire others to open their eyes and become more aware of the millions of families in crisis while helping WakaWaka light their way to safety.
With no purchase necessary, there has never been an easier way to give the safety and security that comes with a WakaWaka Light to families in crisis.
