I think my WakaWaka Base is defect, what can I do?

Hi Agent of Light,

Please read the following tips & tricks, so you can make optimal use of your WakaWaka.

The information is categorized, it might seem a lot of text but we want to advise you to try to read the whole page.

Weather

Depending on the weather condition in the region that you live in, it can be more difficult to fully charge the WakaWaka Base (WWB) with the sun. When charging the WWB it is important that the sun shines directly on the solar panel and that nothing covers the solar panel. So when the sun turns, you should turn the WWB in the direction of the sun. Even when a small part of the panel is covered, it is possible that it will charge less efficient. It takes approximately 4 to 8 hours to fully charge a WWB when charged in the sun. When it is not that sunny or when your WakaWaka is behind (double) glazing, it takes longer to fully charge your WWB).

Battery

  • Base 5:

The battery of the WakaWaka Base5 has a capacity of 5000 mAh. This means that devices with a smaller (or equally sized) battery capacity can be fully charged with the WWB5. Could you please check the capacity of the battery of your device? In case you have a device with a larger battery, please take note that the WWB5 cannot charge the device 100% at once.

  • Base 10:

The battery of the WakaWaka Base10 has a capacity of 10.000 mAh. This means that devices with a smaller (or equally sized) battery capacity can be fully charged with the WWB10. Could you please check the capacity of the battery of your device? In case you have a device with a larger battery, please take note that the WWB10 cannot charge the device 100% at once.

Hibernate

Sometimes, when the WakaWaka Base has been stored for a longer time or when it isn’t used for a while, the battery can be fully empty. This isn’t harmful and can be solved by charging the WWB with a micro-USB through the AC grid once. This gives the WakaWaka an energy boost that normally does the trick! The universal micro-USB charger is the same cable as the one from an Android phone or a GoPro camera and can be bought at any electronic shop or phone shop.

USB ports and cables

If your WakaWaka Base is not charging other devices, you can first try to use another port. We included three different dedicated ports in the WWB, so your device will always communicate well with the battery pack. All three USB ports send the same amount of energy (2.1A) to the device that is being charged, so you can charge any low-voltage device as long as it matches the mAh of the battery. We have a dedicated USB port for Apple products because they have a special software system. We also have a dedicated port for the LED-lights so that you can control it from the battery pack. So if your device is not charging, you can try if they work when using other ports. Could you please also check if your WWB5 is working when you try another cable and another device?

Indicator lights

The indicator lights from a proper working WakaWaka Base5 operate as follows:

  • Red lights:

This light indicates how much sunlight/energy is being captured by the solar panel and therefore, the speed of charging.

  • Green lights:

The green lights indicate the battery status. You can see if the battery is fully charged by pushing the big button on the battery pack. These lights blink when the battery pack is charging via the grid or sun. If the first light blinks it means that the WWB5 is charging between 0-25%, second light: 25-50%, third light: 50-75% and the fourth light: 75-100%. If the battery status shows only one light, it could be that your WWB5 doesn’t have enough power to charge your phone. However you can still use the light perfectly!

  • Blue light

The small blue light indicates whether a device or a light is connected to the battery pack and whether it is charging.

Hopefully this Troubleshoot solved all the problems your WakaWaka might had, and that it makes your WakaWaka ready to shine again! If this is not the case the friendly Agents of Light from Customer Experience will do everything in their power to help you!
