\u00a0<\/p>\nIt has already been a while since the Dogon women in Mali received their WakaWakas. They have become integral parts of the lives of the women. Today Jacqti from the Dogon Women Initiative sent us some emails that show this as well. The women carry the WakaWakas with them or let them hanging on the wall to make sure they fully charge every day.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The Dogon women have received micro credits they use to make a lot of new products like bags and children\u2019s clothes. The WakaWaka saves them money in two ways: they do not have to spend it on batteries and kerosene, and they can work in the evening hours. In Mali sunset is around 18.00, so the solar products yield them a lot of extra time they can spend working on their sewing machines. The WakaWaka lights also contribute to the success of another project with the Dogon Women, which is to teach people to read and write. Five groups of women recently started literacy courses.<\/p>\n
