The first stop was <strong>India<\/strong>, where COO \u00a0Camille and CCO Anthony met market leaders in their <br \/>\u00a0consecutive industries. Peter van der Vorst, a retired senior sales executive for a <br \/>\u00a0large Dutch lighting company, was kind enough to introduce us to his friends and <br \/>\u00a0long-term business relations in the area. As a result we were received with open <br \/>\u00a0arms and had a very warm welcome for WakaWaka. Everyone we were introduced to <br \/>\u00a0became excited about the product and we are still exploring many opportunities <br \/>\u00a0together with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In Dhaka, <strong>Bangladesh<\/strong>\u00a0they were introduced to Professor Yunus, a Bangladeshi banker, <a href=\/media\/24-09-2013_cgi_yunus.jpg><img alt=\"\" height=105 src=\/media\/24-09-2013_cgi_yunus_small.jpg style=\"float: right;\" width=140><\/a>economist \u00a0and Nobel Peace Prize recipient. We also met up with him at the \u00a0Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) in New York City at the end of the \u00a0month!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sri-Lanka<\/strong> was the next destination, where we met more kind people and where we have made some great and lasting connections. Also, we\u2019re very excited to share the news that we will soon be announcing our newest distributor who will ensure that all <br \/>Sri-Lanka has access to the purchase of WakaWaka products.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\/media\/09-14-2013_times_square_wakawaka2.jpg><img alt=\"\" height=93 src=\/media\/09-14-2013_times_square_wakawaka2_small.jpg style=\"float: right;\" width=140><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, in <strong>New York City<\/strong>, Camille, Maurits and Michiel met for the Clinton Global Initiative together with the WakaWaka Ambassadors of Light; Carine de Meyere and Gerry van der Sluys. An exciting preview of WakaWaka had arrived in New York a week before on Times Square. WakaWaka lit up the square 1265 times!<\/p>\n<p>It was great to be back for the third time at CGI in the Big Apple. WakaWaka is making a name for itself at the highest level of global impact leadership. It gave a lot of energy to be able to tell people how far we have advanced since the last time we were at CGI, also with regards to our CGI commitment.<\/p>\n<p>In between the CGI events we met up with some really exciting people who completely <a href=\/media\/26-09-2013_cgi_donna_karan.jpg><img alt=\"\" height=105 src=\/media\/26-09-2013_cgi_donna_karan_small.jpg style=\"float: right;\" width=140><\/a>support WakaWaka. The &#8216;Power Dinner&#8217; with a number of our crowdfund backers kicked off the start of the events. Donna Karan and Carine de Meyere talked about the possibilities of <br \/>WakaWaka. As a result we have the elating news that we will be sold in her Urban Zen <br \/>stores. Look for us there soon!<\/p>\n<p>Jeffrey Sachs and James Hansen were also brought up-to-date about the progress of WakaWaka by Maurits . Maurits met K\u2019naan, the world-famous Somalian artist behind the huge hit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WTJSt4wP2ME\">Wavin\u2019 Flag<\/a>. Hillary Clinton was also introduced to WakaWaka <a href=\/media\/24-09-2013_cgi_james_hansen_jeffrey_sachs.jpg><img alt=\"\" height=104 src=\/media\/24-09-2013_cgi_james_hansen_jeffrey_sachs_small.jpg style=\"float: right;\" width=140><\/a>(twice!) and was very enthousiastic about the product and the work we\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n<p>It was very rewarding to see the awe in people\u2019s eyes about how far we have come in just one year.
