World Refugee Day 2016

In a world where hundreds of families are forced to flee their homes each day, WakaWaka believes it’s vital, to our existence as human beings, to acknowledge the fact that we are all one!

Last year we asked you to close your eyes and imagine what it would be like to live in pitch black, night after night. This year we urge you to open your eyes and see the millions of displaced mothers, fathers, daughters and sons.

Today, WakaWaka will be on Dam Square Amsterdam shooting portraits of “The Faces of Humankind” to convey our clear message; We Are All Part of One Human Family. Or in the words of Ban Ki-moon:

“Refugees are people like anyone else, like you and me. Many of them led ordinary lives before becoming displaced, and their biggest dream is to be able to live normally again. On this World Refugee Day, let us recall our common humanity, celebrate tolerance and diversity and open our hearts to refugees everywhere.” – Ban Ki-moon

So join us today, on Dam Square Amsterdam, from 10:30 AM CET and have your portrait taken to show your support in unity, with empathy and compassion.
